How would you describe your personal style?
Other people have described it as 'old meets new'. I would like to think my work is thoughtful, considered and well crafted. That's just my opinion though.

When you were a child, did you want to become an illustrator?
Not sure if I really knew what an illustrator was back then, but I was always doing things and being creative. So it seems a natural progression to where I am now.

Where do you get your inspiration from?
Inspiration can come from all around. I probably spend too much time in my studio so it's nice to get out and about (somewhere where you don't have a computer you don't check your e-mails). This doesn't necessarily mean you'll have an epiphany whilst feeding the swans but it helps to see things differently.

Could you describe your working process?
Thinking, inking, tweaking.

What would be the ideal working setup for you?
Tea or coffee and cake.

What do you love the most about your life as an illustrator?
It's not a bad life, apart from when deadlines come knocking. You (mostly) have a freedom of when to work and who to work for.

If you had to do something totally different for living, what would it be?
Tungsten Tickler.

What kind of music do you listen while working?
At present i'm listening to Belle and Sebastian. But i'm quite open to all walks of music. Sometimes the joy of music encourages you to work, other times the excitement of a Test match on the radio stimulates the mind and other times it's nice to work in the quiet.

If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
I would like to spend some time in Tokyo, it would be great to live somewhere else for a while.

Who are your all-time favorite artists?
My 'favourite' artists have basically changed with time. They probably reflect where I am personally as an artist. In my teens I was a big fan of Surrealism (I had all the posters!) and at college it was Cronenberg and Chris Cunningham. I'm not sure if I have a favourite at the moment but the internet has highlighted a new wealth of talent from around the world.

Who has been the most inspiring non-artistic person for you?
Directly it is family and friends, but some of them are creative so that probably doesn't count. I am a massive sports fan so sports people at the top of their game just amazes me. Steven Gerrard, Roger Federer, Phil Taylor.

What is the most bizarre dream you ever had?
My dreams tend to be quite calm, nothing that bizarre at all. It's generally a time when I relax/sleep.

Thank you!
