Artwork description by artist

The piece is based on one of our local dieties called The Bakunawa. It's a serpent/dragon that eats up the moon at night time. Our ancestors believed that the Bakunawa is the cause of eclipses. To scare the Bakunawa into spitting out the moon back into the skies, ancient Filipinos would make noise with pans and pots.

To make the scene cinematic and epic, I included one Pintado (a Tattooed Native) and have him strike the first noise/note. At the background you can see the lights of the houses starting to flicker...

...In a few minutes the whole valley will be filled with men and women making noise...
